The Gate control theory of pain:
Before you do anything else, read this short paper
a longish (7 minute) interview, that will help clarify
and finally, a nutty little animation
I liked the last video. It was better than the other. I finally know now why if something is hurting me I put pressure on it to stop the pain. I can't believe that it actually works. I actually like the theories on pain. Also, the taste sense gets me to because of how it's works together with smell. I been told before that if you can smell the food, you won't be able to taste it accurately. I didn't really get the vesbular sense video, but I know what it is. I find it amazing that all of these senses are happening nonstop and fast. Also, they are all complex and have their own little section in the brain.
ReplyDeleteMs. Rious you and these videos are doing the most but luckily they were helpful. The fact that the nose helps you to detect tastes is kind of weird. The nose works together with the mouth or tongue I should say to help us detect what we are tasting. Our taste buds don't taste!!!!! Thats a news flash to me I can't believe it. Apparently they only send messages to the brain to tell us what we are tasting. Not to mention the Vestibular sense which is the sense that helps us to stay coordinated can be affected by us having a cold or an ear infection. I guess I knew that already but just didn't know what it was called.
ReplyDeleteMs. Rious, these videos are way too much. Fortunately, they were good videos. The last video was better than all of the rest of them. I like the way that the nose and the mouth work together. The explanation about how the nose helps the mouth detect taste was very interesting. I always thought that my taste buds were in my mouth somewhere, the last thing I thought about was my tongue. The Vestibular Sense video was informal as well. They are very helpful with keeping the body coordinated. But I have one question, ( please don't laugh at this question...this is serious!!!) Is there such thing as having Teenage Taste Buds?
